Script Lab and Short Film Grant Scheme announces “Workshop on Film Production Process” at Film
and Television Institute of India, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh.
Following are the details in this regard:

Qualification: HSC (12th
pass). In exceptional cases, 10th pass may be considered. An
applicant must have a certain experience in film production from any arm and in
any capacity. (Supporting document/certificate is mandatory from
Director/producer)

Selection Criteria: On First Come First Serve basis. Please
note that the participant must Hold domicile of one of the eight NER states,
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim or
Tripura. Participants shall have experience in film production in any capacity.

Certificates:
All participants would be given participation certificate on successful
completion of the course. Minimum 90%
attendance is mandatory to get certificate.

Communication
with participants: All communications with the participants
will be carried out through email only. List of shortlisted participants will be
published on FTII website and selection email will be sent to the selected
participants on their registered email.

Limited Hostel
accommodation for outstation participants may be provided during the course
duration only. The accommodation will be on sharing basis. No
requests in this regard will be entertained.

Few candidates may get a chance to be part
of North East based short film as Technical Crew and may also be entitled for
stipend.

Course Director: Dr. Milind Damle
Dr. Milind Damle, Associate Professor, FTII, Pune. He is alumnus of FTII
from 2004 batch and is having more than 20 years experience in the field of
Radio, Cinema & Television. He is a film educator and is full time
associated with FTII since 2012. Professionally he edited feature films and
also directed & produced no. of short films. His written and produced short films have
been a part of many national and international film festivals and have won
awards. His doctoral research is based on the song picturization techniques in
films directed by Vijay Anand.

No document/ certificate related to educational qualification, age etc. is to
be attached. Participants’ self – declaration in the application form is
sufficient.

Further, participants agree that decision of FTII Director regarding admission
to the course and its conduction in all respect will be final.
Workshop / Course Contents
Since
the beginning, cinema has been at the heart of the art lovers. This workshop is
intended as a brief introduction to the salient aspects of film production
process, both a little in theory as well as practical and exercises. The
participants' time during the course will be divided between lectures, practical
exercises, conceptual discussions and film screenings.
The course will include:
● Theory (conceptual/aesthetic as well as
technical) - The theory inputs would be introductory, fitting the available time. The idea is to
get the participants acquainted with these topics.
● Practical (Hands on exercises in groups)
● Screenings of curated films/ videos /clips
over the internet as per the requirement of the lecture/practical.
The theory inputs would be very
introductory, since the time is very short, but the idea is to get the participants
acquainted with (and hopefully interested in) these topics.

● A brief history of cinema, Who does what
in cinema
● Fundamentals of Script, Direction,
Cinematography, Editing and Sound
● Introduction to allied arts and arms in
filmmaking
● Introduction to Budget, Scheduling,
planning
● Various verticals of Pre, Production and
Post
By
the end of the course, participants should have a fair understanding of the art
and craft of film production, while also being able to approach their work with
more confidence and rigor.
A few Participants may get to work as
assistants on the short film productions to be carried out in the NER under the
scheme.
