RECORD NUMBER OF 6125 CANDIDATES ACROSS INDIA APPLY FOR FTII-SRFTI JOINT ENTRANCE TEST AS DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION ENDS.
 
A record-breaking 6125 candidates have registered for the all India Joint Entrance Test (JET) for admissions to full time courses at Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) Pune and Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute (SRFTI) Kolkata in 2019. 
 
As against 5292 candidates in 2018, 833 more aspirants registered in 2019 bringing the total to 6125, the highest so far. This is the second time running that FTII- SRFTI will be conducting the entrance test jointly though like last year, in 2019 too FTII is the host institute for organizing JET.
 
In film courses, the maximum registrations were for Screen Acting (1981), followed by Direction & Screenplay Writing (1280) and Cinematography (884).
 
Among Television and Electronic & Digital Media (EDM) courses, maximum registrations were for TV Direction and Producing & Direction for EDM (388) followed by Cinematography for EDM and Electronic Cinematography (352) and Video Editing and Editing for EDM (199).
 
Registrations were opened on 30th December 2018 with the activation of Joint Entrance Test (JET) portal and 5pm, 7th February was the deadline for applying. 
 
"The significant jump is majorly  due to a sustained and focussed social media campaign. FTII's countrywide film education outreach SKIFT which saw more than 125 short courses conducted in over 25 cities over the last 21 months is another significant factor. Add to that the admission seminars, in January 2019, conducted jointly by FTII & SRFTI representatives with support from alumni, in Pune, Mumbai, Nagpur, Jaipur, Delhi, Patna, Dehradun, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Jammu, Bhopal and Lucknow. Seminars were also held at institutions for women ; Banasthali Vidyapeeth near Jaipur and Lady Irwin college, Delhi", says Bhupendra Kainthola, Director, FTII Pune. 
 
Candidates desirous of seeking admission to FTII & SRFTI will go through a multi-stage selection process.The first stage is the written test on 24th February 2019
         
JET 2019 will be a written test of three hours duration consisting of objective type and descriptive questions and will be conducted in 26 centres across India. 
 
Based on the JET 2019 score of the candidates, FTII and SRFTI will send call letters to the candidates for the second stage of the selection process and thereafter, on successful accomplishment of all the requisites, finally admit students in their full time regular programmes for the academic year 2019.
