Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune under its ‘Centre For Open Learning (CFOL)’ program, announces Short Course exclusively for children – Basic Course in Digital Film Production for Children in Pune, Maharashtra.
Following are the details in this regard;
- Name of the Course: Basic Course in Digital Film Production for Children
- Dates: 05th to 09th May 2025 (Monday to Friday)
- Timings: 10 am to 5.30 pm (lunch break from 1.30 pm to 02.30 pm)
- Age of Participants: 11 completed to 17 years running as on 01st May 2025
- No. of participants: 22 (Course may not be conducted if there are less than 18 participants).
- Educational Qualification: 05th std. pass. In exceptional cases, 04th std. pas may also be considered
- Nationality: Indian
- Medium of Instructions: The medium of instruction would be English and Hindi. Participants are expected to have adequate knowledge of English and/ or Hindi as regards to reading, writing & speaking.
- Venue: FTII’s Vijay Tendulkar Writers’ Academy campus, V Shantaram Film City (FTII Extended Campus), near Pune Doordarshan Kendra, opposite back gate of MIT WPU University, Rambaug Colony, Kothrud, Pune
- Per Participant Course fee: Rs 7,500/-
Course fee is excluding breakfast, lunch, tea/ coffee, snacks etc.
Course fee of selected participants will be non-refundable, non-transferrable, non-adjustable, etc. under any circumstances. Course fee of all the non – selected participants will be refunded within 21 working days of the course commencement. Also, due to any reason, if the course is cancelled by FTII, course fee will be refunded.

- Due date & time: 03rd April 2025, 6 pm IST. Application submitted after due date & time will not be considered.

- Course Director: Dr. Milind Damle
Dr. Milind Damle, Associate Professor, FTII, Pune. He is alumnus of FTII from 2004 batch and is having more than 20 years experience in the field of Radio, Cinema & Television. He is a film educator and is full time associated with FTII since 2012. Professionally he edited feature films and also directed & produced no. of short films. His written and produced short films have been a part of many national and international film festivals and have won awards. His doctoral research is based on the song picturization techniques in films directed by Vijay Anand.
- How to apply:

2. Search/Find FTII Fees Account in Educational institutions name and click submit.
3. In the payment category select “C1 Basic Course in Digital Filmmaking for Children”
4. Fill-up the application form with requisite details and proceed for payment.
5. Make necessary payment of Rs 7,500/-.
6. Once payment is done, please note "SBcollect Reference Number" (mentioned in payment confirmation receipt). This may be required for future reference.
7. If possible, digitally store the receipt of payment. This can be carried out in one of the following ways;
(i) by taking printout of receipt of payment, scan & save it
(ii) by taking screenshot of payment (if using mobile) or printscreen (if using computer)
(iii) by simply taking a photograph from mobile
8. No document/ certificate related to educational qualification, age etc. is to be attached. Participants’ self – declaration in the application form is sufficient.
9. Terms & conditions: By agreeing to the terms & conditions in the application form, participants are confirming that they have read & understood the website advt. They are eligible to apply and fulfil all the requirements as stated in the advt. Also, it is presumed that participants will be staying and or attending the course at their own risk & cost and FTII will not be held responsible for anything or matter of what-so-ever nature. Further, participants agree that decision of FTII Director regarding admission to the course and its conduction in all respect will be final.
- Communication with participants: All communications with the participants will be carried out through email only. List of shortlisted participants may be published on FTII website and selection email will be sent to the selected participants on their registered email id.
- Accommodation: As the course is non – residential, no accommodation would be provided or arranged. Participants need to make their own lodging & boarding arrangements at their own cost.
- Participants need to assure general decency, decorum etc. on the campus. Failing to do so will lead to cancellation of admission without refunding course fee apart from taking internal disciplinary action and dealing the matter as per law of the land. All rights in this regard are reserved with FTII.
- Certificates: Participants would be given participation certificate on successful completion of the course which will carry logo of FTII & CFOL and will be jointly signed by FTII Director and the Course Director. Minimum 90% attendance is mandatory to get certificate.

Course Contents
Introduction:
Introduction to the fundamentals to film production including history, theory, techniques and applications. Includes artistic and aesthetic analysis of films in a simple and easy way to be understood by children. Understanding the creative eye behind the scenes and how to develop the skill of storytelling.
Course Objectives:
1. to understand basic concepts to Film making
2. to understand the film production process
3. to understand who does what in cinema
4. to understand the components of Film Language & Story Telling
5. to understand basics of technical aspects of film production
Course Content:
Introduction to film making, fundamentals for film making, Concept Development
Structure of story, Understanding Visual Storytelling, Script Writing, How to develop screenplay. Understanding Drama and Character, Forming a strong character. Exercises towards the learning.
Process of film making, Understanding Pre-Production, Script breakdown and planning for shoot. What is Production? How camera works, Cinematography. Scene, Shot & Take. Practical on Camera. Assignment for keeping pre-production ready for final production of film.
Understanding and preparation for a short film Production and producing a short film with everybody’s contribution as a group activity.
