Basic Course in Digital Filmmaking for Children in Pune from 18-23 May 2026

 

 

Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune under its ‘Centre For Open Learning (CFOL)’ program, announces on-campus Short Course exclusively for children – Basic Course in Digital Filmmaking for Children in Pune, Maharashtra.

 

Following are the details in this regard;

 

  1. Name of the Course: Basic Course in Digital Filmmaking for Children
  2. Dates: 18-23 May 2026
  3. Timings: 10 am to 5 pm (lunch break from 1 pm to 2 pm)
  4. Max. no. of participants: 22 (Course may not be conducted if there are less than 17 participants. 02 seats are reserved for children of FTII staff in both the batches.)
  5. Age: From 11 years completed to 18 years running as on 01st May 2026
  6. Educational Qualification: 06th std. pass. In exceptional cases, 05th std. may be considered
  7. Nationality: Indian
  8. Medium of Instructions: The medium of instruction would be mainly English and partly Hindi. Participants are expected to have adequate knowledge of English and/ or Hindi as regards to reading, writing & speaking.
  9. Venue: Vijay Tendulkar Writer’s Academy, Rambaug Colony, Near Doordarshan Kendra, , Kothrud, Pune
  10. Per Participant Course fee: Rs 7,000/-

     Course fee is excluding breakfast, lunch, tea/ coffee, snacks etc.

Course fee of selected participants will be non-refundable, non-transferrable, non-adjustable, etc. under any circumstances. Course fee of all the non – selected participants will be refunded within 21 working days of the course commencement. Due to any other reason, if the course is cancelled by FTII, course fee will be refunded.

  2. Due date & time: 30th April 2026, 6 pm IST. Application submitted after due date & time will not be considered.
  3. Selection Criteria: On First – Come – First – Served Basis.
  4. Course Director: Mr Ritesh Taksande
  5. Ritesh Taksande is an award-winning filmmaker and educator with more than 15 years of experience spanning animation, VFX, and live-action production. Recognised for his contributions to national and international projects such as Disney’s "Planes 2", "Little Krishna," Shaktimaan and regional films, he demonstrates extensive proficiency in filmmaking, cinematography, and professional training. As course director, Ritesh actively supports emerging talent by leading workshops and providing film education through My First Film Organisation. He has also served as Senior Manager – Film Production at the National Film Development Corporation under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

1. Click open the link - https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm OR visit www.onlinesbi.com and further click on “SB Collect” which is at the top left, vertically 06th from left to right.

2. Search/Find FTII Fees Account in Educational institutions name and click submit.

3. In the payment category select “A075 Basic C. in Digital Filmmaking for Children”

4. Fill-up the application form with requisite details and proceed for payment.

5. Make necessary payment of Rs 7,000/-.

6. Once payment is done, please note "SBcollect Reference Number" (mentioned in payment confirmation receipt). This may be required for future reference. 

7. If possible, digitally store the receipt of payment. This can be carried out in one of the following ways;

(i) by taking printout of receipt of payment, scan & save it

(ii) by taking screenshot of payment (if using mobile) or printscreen (if using computer)

(iii) by simply taking a photograph from mobile

8. No document/ certificate related to educational qualification, age etc. is to be attached. Participants’ self – declaration in the application form is sufficient.

9. Terms & conditions: By agreeing to the terms & conditions in the application form, participants are confirming that they have read & understood the website advt. They are eligible to apply and fulfil all the requirements as stated in the advt. Also, it is presumed that participants will be staying and or attending the course at their own risk & cost and FTII will not be held responsible for anything or matter of what-so-ever nature. Further, participants agree that decision of FTII Director regarding admission to the course and its conduction in all respect will be final.

  1. Communication with participants: All communications with the participants will be carried out through email only. List of shortlisted participants may be published on FTII website and selection email will be sent to the selected participants on their registered email id.
  2. Accommodation: As the course is non – residential, no accommodation would be provided or arranged. Participants need to make their own lodging & boarding arrangements at their own cost.
  3. Participants need to assure general decency, decorum etc. on the campus. Failing to do so will lead to cancellation of admission without refunding course fee apart from taking internal disciplinary action and dealing the matter as per law of the land. All rights in this regard are reserved with FTII.
  4. Certificates: Participants would be given participation certificate on successful completion of the course which will carry logo of FTII & CFOL and will be jointly signed by FTII Director and the Course Director. Minimum 90% attendance is mandatory to get certificate.

Course Contents

 

 

This course provides basics of techniques, and applications of filmmaking. It is designed to introduce young learners to the art and aesthetic analysis of films in a simple and engaging manner. Through a hands-on approach, participants will explore the creative processes behind movie-making and learn how to develop the essential skill of storytelling.

 

Course Objectives:

1. Understand the fundamentals of filmmaking.

2. Learn the basics of film language and storytelling techniques.

3. Gain an introduction to cinematography.

4. Explore the basics of editing and post-production.

5. Learn effective archival techniques and best practices.

 

Course Content:

Day 1: Introduction to Filmmaking and Story Development

- Overview of filmmaking fundamentals.

- Concept development and story structure.

- Understanding visual storytelling.

- Basics of scriptwriting and screenplay development.

- Task allocation for the next session.

 

Day 2: Pre-Production and Camera Exercise

- The filmmaking process and the importance of pre-production.

- Script breakdown and planning for a shoot.

- Introduction to production: How cameras work and the fundamentals of cinematography.

- Understanding sequences, scenes, shots, and takes.

- Practical session on camera operation and lighting techniques.

- Assignment: Preparing pre-production materials for the final film.

 

Day 3: Film Production

- Understanding on-screen production.

- Hands-on experience in producing a short film.

 

Day 4: Post-Production Techniques

- Introduction to editing, sound design, and visual effects.

- Practical sessions on composition and integrating visual effects.

 

Day 5: Final Edits and Film Screening

- Final editing, voiceover, dubbing, and sound mixing.

- Screening of the final film followed by a review, feedback and valedictory session.

 

The course offers an immersive experience for young aspiring filmmakers, providing them with practical skills and knowledge to explore the art of storytelling and produce their first film.
