Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune under its ‘Centre For Open Learning (CFOL)’ announces course in “Appreciating Songs in Raj Kapoor Films (Tribute to the Showman in his birth centenary)” from 01-02 February 2025 at Vijay Tendulkar Writer’s Academy, Rambaug Colony, Near Doordarshan Kendra, Kothrud, Pune .
Following are the details in this regard;
- Name of the Course: Basic Course in Appreciating Songs in Raj Kapoor Films (Tribute to the Showman in his birth centenary)
- Dates: 01-02 February 2025 (02 days)
- Timings: 10 am to 5 pm (1 to 2 pm will be lunch break)
- Max. no. of participants: 25 (Course will be conducted only if min. strength of 20 participants is reached)
- Age: 18 years & above as on 1st February 2025 (participants born on or before 31st January 2007)
- Educational Qualification: HSC (12th pass). In exceptional cases, 10th pass may be considered
- Nationality: Indian
- Medium of Instructions: English & Hindi
- Venue: Vijay Tendulkar Writer’s Academy, Rambaug Colony, Near Doordarshan Kendra, , Kothrud, Pune
- Per Participant Course fee: Rs 1,000/-
Course fee is excluding lunch, tea/ coffee, snacks etc.
Course fee of selected participants will be non-refundable, non-transferrable, non-adjustable, etc. under any circumstances Course fee of all the non – selected participants will be returned within 21 working days of the course commencement.
However, due to any reason, if the course is postponed OR cancelled by the organisers, course fee will be refunded.
- Mode of payment: Online through SBI Collect (along with application form).
- Due date & time to submit online application: 20 January, 2025, 6 pm IST. Application submitted after due date & time will not be considered.
- Selection Criteria: On First – Come – First – Served Basis. List of selected participants will be published on our website and selection emails will also be sent to all the selected participants.
(14) Certificates: All participants would be given participation certificate on successful completion of the course. Minimum 90% attendance is mandatory to get certificate.

(16) Communication with participants: All communications with the participants will be carried out through email only. List of shortlisted participants will be published on FTII website and selection email will be sent to the selected participants on their registered email.
(17) Course Director: Dr. Milind Damle
Dr. Milind Damle, Associate Professor, FTII, Pune. He is alumnus of FTII from 2004 batch and is having more than 20 years experience in the field of Radio, Cinema & Television. He is a film educator and is full time associated with FTII since 2012. Professionally he edited feature films and also directed & produced no. of short films. His written and produced short films have been a part of many national and international film festivals and have won awards. His doctoral research is based on the song picturization techniques in films directed by Vijay Anand.

. In the Search box, search/Find FTII Fees Account and click submit.
2. In the payment category select “C1 Appreciating Songs in Raj Kapoor Films”.
3. Fill-up the application form with requisite details and proceed for payment.
4. Make necessary payment of Rs 1,000/-
5. Once payment is done, please note "SBI collect Reference Number" (mentioned in payment confirmation receipt). This may be required for future reference.
6. If possible, digitally store the receipt of payment. This can be carried out in one of the following ways;
(i) by taking printout of receipt of payment, scan & save it
(ii) by taking screenshot of payment (if using mobile) or print screen (if using computer)
(iii) by simply taking a photograph from mobile
7. No document/ certificate related to educational qualification, age etc. is to be attached. Participants’ self – declaration in the application form is sufficient.

Course Contents
Raj Kapoor the iconic filmmaker from India also known as the Greatest Showman of Hindi film industry has left his impact and legacy though his films on not only India but on global cinema.
His international acclaim came in the form of the super hit Awara (1951) which made him a superstar overnight in Russia and on the other hand his Jagte Raho (1956) won the RK Films the best film award at Karlo Vivari International Film Festival competing with world masters.
His second film Barsat (1949) created weaves with new music which has impacted generations of film makers and music lovers alike. Barsat followed by many films with ups and downs in the form of the box office success, however the music remained path breaking in all his films.
Here is an opportunity to look back at the history created by Raj Kapoor through his music in his films coming out of RK films. On the occasion of his birth centenary let up revisit the Golden Era of Hindi Films and pay tribute to this Showman while enjoying the songs in his films through music and visuals.
