Foundation Course in Screen Acting from 06^th January – 28^th March 2025

Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada (SRTM) University, Nanded, in association with Film & Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, as Academic Partner, announces “Foundation Course in Screen Acting“ to be conducted on SRTM University campus, Nanded, Maharashtra.

Following are the details in this regard;

1. Name of the Course: Foundation Course in Screen Acting
2. Dates: 06^th January – 28^th March 2025  (Excluding Sundays and 26^th January 2025)
3. Timing: 10 am to 6 pm (01.30 pm to 02 pm will be lunch break). On few days timing may extend.
4. Maximum no. of seats: 24 (Course will be conducted only if minimum strength of 20 is reached)
5. Selection Criteria: On First – Come – First – Served Basis.
6. Age: 18 years completed as on 01^st January 2025.
7. Educational Qualification: HSC (12^th pass). In exception cases, 10^th pass may be considered
8. Nationality: Indian except for those foreign students who are presently students of SRTM University/ affiliated colleges of the University
9. Medium of Instructions: English and Hindi.
10. Venue: School of Fine and Performing Arts, SRTM University Campus, Nanded
11. Per Participant Course fee: Rs 80,000/-

Course fee of selected participants will be non-refundable, non-transferrable, non-adjustable, etc. under any circumstances. Course fee of all the non – selected participants will be refunded within 21 working days of the course commencement. Course fee does not include breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea/ coffee, snacks etc.

12. Application form and mode of payment: On FTII’s application portal through SBI Collect
13. Due date & time: 10^th December 2024, 6 pm IST. Application submitted after due date & time will not be considered.
14. Communication with participants: All communications with the participants will be carried out through email only. List of shortlisted participants will be published on SRTM University website. Selection email will be sent to the selected participants on their registered email id.
15. Hostel: Limited accommodation (on first come first served basis) on SRTM University campus, Nanded, on twin sharing basis is available for the participants as per SRTM University approved rates. This additional payment is to be made in advance in cash on 05 January 2025 directly to the University. Interested participants need to intimate the accommodation requirement in the application form without which the same will not be considered. The accommodation will be available from 05^th January to 29 March 2025.

As regards to the meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea/ coffee, snacks etc.), the same may be available in the University canteen/ mess on additional payment of approximately Rs 100/- per meal.

Participants need to assure general decency, decorum etc on the University campus and room allotment may be cancelled if same is not followed. All rights in this regard are reserved with the University management.

16. Certificates:  Participation certificate would be given on successful completion of the course which will carry logos of SRTM University and FTII and will be jointly signed by the University Authority and FTII Director. Minimum 90% attendance is mandatory to get certificate.

19. Participants need to assure general decency, decorum etc. on the University campus. Failing to do so will lead to cancellation of admission without refunding course fee apart from taking internal disciplinary action and dealing the matter as per law of the land. All rights in this regard are reserved with the SRTM University.

20. Course Director: Mr. Megh Varn Pant

Mr. Megh Pant is an Actor, Acting coach and has a teaching experience of 18 years, a graduate from the first screen acting batch of the new era in 2004 – 2006. He wrote a research paper “Acting – in the cinematic environment” and has been continuously reaching and experimenting with the Sanford Meisner Acting Technique adapting it to the practical conditions of the Indian Audio Visual diaspora.

Currently, heading the Academic Research of Dramalay School of Acting and Theatre. He has designed short term and long term courses for many Institutions. A practitioner of the Sanford Meisner Technique, he has performed in over 20 films and numerous commercials (https://www.imdb.com/name/nm3078280/).

He is also a regular trainer and Acting Coach for advertisement produced by Equinox Films and has prepared Actors for roles on specific Scripts as part of the preparatory workshop. Prior to Dramalay he was the Director, Academic Coordination, at Indian Television Academy School of Performing Arts.

He has been closely associated with his Alma Mata as visiting faculty at the Screen Acting Department of FTII. Also, FTII engaged him as Course Director wherein he conducted two Foundation Courses in Screen Acting, each of 03 months duration and two Basic Courses in Screen Acting, each of 10 days duration. Further, he also conducted 10 days Screen Acting course for Children in summer break. He also has a Degree of Mechanical Engineering from Panjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.

21. How to apply:

(i) Click open the link - https://www.onlinesbi.sbi/sbicollect/icollecthome.htm OR visit www.onlinesbi.sbi and further click on “SB Collect” which is at the top left, vertically 06^th from left to right. In the Search box, search/ Find FTII Fees Account and click submit.

(ii) In the payment category select “O2 Foundation C. in Screen Acting SRTM Uni Nanded”.

(iii) Fill-up the application form with requisite details and proceed for payment.

(iv) Make necessary payment of Rs 80,000/- as the case may be.

(v) Once payment is done, please note "SBcollect Reference Number" (mentioned in payment confirmation receipt). This may be required for future reference. 

(vi) Digitally store the receipt of payment. This can be carried out in one of the following ways;

(a) by taking printout of receipt of payment, scan & save it

(b) by taking screenshot of payment (if using mobile) or printscreen (if using computer)

(c) by simply taking a photograph from mobile

(vii) No document/ certificate related to educational qualification, age etc. is to be attached. Participants’ self – declaration in the application form is sufficient.

(ix)Terms & conditions: By agreeing to the terms & conditions in the application form, participants are confirming that they have read & understood the website advt. They are eligible to apply and fulfil all the requirements as stated in the advt. Also, it is presumed that participants will be staying and or attending the course at their own risk & cost and will not be held responsible for anything or matter of what-so-ever nature. Further, participants agree that decision of SRTM University regarding admission to the course and its conduction in all respect will be final.

22. Course Contents:

This course would enable the student to understand and apply the nuisances of the acting techniques on a script and effectively use voice and body to communicate the idea via behaviour.

The design of this course takes root from the above definition and by using a combination of exercises from Sanford Meisner, Stanislavski, Less Strasberg, Stella Adler and Natyashastra Techniques would enable the student to understand the building blocks of a performance via constant practice of fundamental exercises and live scripts leading to enabling the participant to be confident in taking up auditions and actual screen acting assignments. A wholesome design of training the body, voice and craft apparatus would be undertaken in this course.

• Study of the book “first six lessons” by Richard Boleslavsky (theory and practice)
• Continuous work and exercises of Voice, Speech and Diction to develop and expressive vocal apparatus
• Sanford Meisner’s Acting Technique will form the base of the course.
• Elements of Lee Strasberg, Stanislavsky and Stella Adler’s technique would be part of the course
• Fundamentals of Film making Process (theory)
• Various kinds of improvisation techniques
• Continuous practice via monologue, improvisation and scene work
• Film Screening and performance analysis

Stucture

Following on the lines of the Strasberg and Meisner technique the class would be along the following pattern over a period of 3 months as regular classes.
