“Smarananjali – Remembering the Legend” A Tribute to Raj Khosla (27th June, 2021)
Raj Khosla has some of the finest Hindi Cinemas to his credit. His work is studied, watched, relished and celebrated even today.
Under it's series 'Diamond Jubilee. Golden Memories', FTII organised an online tribute 'Smarananjali' to honour this luminary.
The esteemed panel included Shatrughan Sinha, Sriram Raghavan, Karan Bali, Amborish Roychoudhury, Kaushal Inamdar, Anita Puri, Uma Khosla Kapur and G.M Kapur. The discussion was moderated by Milind Damle and Vaidehi Sancheti.
Shatrughan Sinha considers Raj Khosla as his Guru and fondly remembered him by admiring his filmmaking techniques.
The panellists spoke about Raj Khosla's journey of becoming an established director, his amazing craft and artistry, his great writing, his ability, as a director, to extract the best from his actors, his unconventional and creative way of portraying his female characters, the fluidity of his camera work, the glimpses of his fondness for horses in his work and the sheer brilliance of his song making and picturisation skills. They also discussed anecdotes and their experiences.
Kaushal Inamdar added some sweet musical touches to the discussion.
The tribute ended on a beautiful note where the panellists and the participants spoke about how Raj Khosla, as a human, was loyal, bankable and an amazing filmmaker.
