1. Details of Business transacted by the Organization:
The main business transacted by the Institute is to impart training to the students in the art and craft of filmmaking and offer in-service training to personnel from Doordarshan. The detailed objectives of the Institute are enclosed as Annexure-II. A copy of Prospectus for the year 2020 is also available on this website.
2. Details/types of Clients/Customers
The main clients/customers of the Institute are film and television course students, TV trainees deputed by Doordarshan, IIS Office Trainees etc., and participants of short-term courses.
3. Expectations from the client/citizen
The students and TV trainees expect systematic training in the art and craft of Film and TV media. The outside Producers' expectations are limited to timely provision of good quality equipment, trained technicians and suitable locations for their Film and TV productions, at reasonable rates. The in service training offers opportunity of interaction and exchange of ideas among the participants and augmenting their skills and exposure to the new technical aspects of the medium.

5. Spell out standards of service i.e. indicate time-limits for execution of various tasks involving public interface and the quality of service with reference to courtesy and helpfulness of the staff
Being an educational institution, the main service of the Institute pertains to training film and television students enrolled in the Diploma courses, One Year Certificate Courses in- service trainees and short-term courses. The Syllabic for the various courses are designed by the Academic Council that consists of industry professionals and teachers. The courses have fixed duration which are arrived at after providing training in all important Ingredients of Film, Television and allied subjects. The teachers are appointed as per the standards of qualifications and experience as per recruitment rules. The short courses vary in duration from 2 weeks to 12 weeks. The Institute has two Wings : the Film and the TV Wing. FTII offers following Courses.
I. Three year Post Graduate Diploma in Film & Television with following five specializations
a) Direction & Screenplay Writing
b) Cinematography
c) Editing
d) Sound Recording & Sound Design
e) Art Direction & Production Design
II. Two year Post Graduate Diploma in Screen Acting.
III. Two year Post Graduate Diploma in Screenwriting (Film, Television and Web Series)
IV. One Year Post Graduate Certificate Course in Television with following four specializations
a) Direction
b) Electronic Cinematography
c) Video Editing
d) Sound Recording and TV Engineering
6. Details of Grievance Redress Mechanism and Access Mechanism.
The Citizen can approach any of the Officer shown below. The Information & Facilitation Counter (IFC) or anyone of the following Officers may be approached for getting information and necessary help. The IFC is located on 2nd floor of TV Building (Room No. 330). Grievance/Complaint, if any, will be promptly acknowledged and replied within 30 days (7 working days for acknowledgment) and within about 30 - 40 working days for normal reply and/or other reply. Regarding major/policy/planning issues at the central level, Citizen may contact/send grievance/complaint to the Director, FTII, Pune.

7. There should be an in-built provision for annual review of the Charter and performance audit by outside agency.
The academic activities and other programmes of the Institute are reflected in the Annual Report submitted to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The Accounts of the Institute are audited by Chartered Accountants appointed on the recommendations of the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India Accounts and are also inspected annually by the Principal Director of Audit, Central, Mumbai.

With students, a continuous dialogue is maintained at FTII through the Students Association. The TV trainees, at the end of their course, are requested to give feedback of academic inputs and other aspects of the Institute and offer suggestions, if any. Also, feedback from students of regular courses is obtained on regular intervals.

The Institute envisions to impart high quality education in the fields of Film, Television and allied media to encourage creative expression, independent enterprise and to create well educated professionals for Film, Television and Media Industry. It also seeks to promote research & innovation and develop new concepts & practices in the area of Film & TV education
ANNEXURE -II
OBJECTIVES
The objectives for which the Institute is established are:
1. To develop suitable patterns of teaching in all branches of film and television, both at under-graduate and post-graduate levels, so as to establish high standards of films and television education in India.
2. To constantly endeavour at raising the technical standards of Indian films and television programmes so as to make them aesthetically more satisfying and acceptable to facilitate regular inflow of fresh ideas and new techniques in the field of Cinema and Television and a corresponding outflow of trained personnel imbibing these ideas and techniques.
3. To produce trained man-power both for the growing needs of the film industry and television organisations in India, and particularly to organise the in service training programme for television personnel.
4. To create a new awareness among the future workers in film and television of the potentialities of their media not only as means of entertainment but also of education and artistic expression.
5. To cooperate or collaborate with other national and/or foreign institutes and institutions and organisations in the field of film television and the performing arts.
6. To provide for postgraduate teaching in the art and craft of film-making for Cinema and Television and allied subjects.
7. To provide facilities for and undertake research in various branches of film and television.
8. To prescribe courses and curricula for postgraduate studies and short-term courses.
9. To hold examinations and grant such diplomas and certificates and other academic distinctions as may be necessary;
10. To organise refresher courses, summer schools and the like and invite experts and research scholars from within the country and abroad for delivering lectures and/or developing research and to pay them such remunerations as may be appropriate.
11. To depute students and members of the staff of the Institute to participate in seminars, conferences, workshops, training courses and the like, in India and abroad, through fellowships, scholarships and otherwise.
12. To print, publish and exhibit any magazine, periodical, monograph poster or films that may be desirable for the promotion of the objectives of the Institute.
13. To assist and associate itself with efforts of other academic bodies, Governmental, non-Governmental for the fulfillment of the objects of the Institute.
14. To institute and award scholarships, fellowships, monetary assistance and prizes with a view to promoting interest in studies and research in film and television.
15. To institute and appoint persons to professorships, readerships, lectureships and posts of any description in accordance with the rules and bye-laws.
16. To fix and recover fees and other charges and establish, maintain and manage halls and hostels for the residence of scholars, officers, members of the staff and students of the Institute.
17. To accept grants, subscriptions, donations, gifts, benefactions, bequests and transfers of properties, both movable and immovable, from any Government, Corporations, Trust or person for the purpose of the Institute, provided that no conditions or obligations opposed to the objects of the Institute are attached thereto, and in the case of grants and gifts from foreign Government, foreign organisations or international organisations, prior approval of Central Government is obtained.
18. To maintain a fund to which shall be credited :
A. all money provided by the Central Government
B. all fees and other charges received by the Institute
C. all money received by the Institute by way of grants, gifts, donations, benefactions, bequests or transfers; and
D. all money received by the Institute in any other manner or from any other source.
19. To deposit all money credited to the Fund in such banks or to invest the same in such manner as the Institute may decide.
20. To draw, make, accept, endorse and discount cheques, notes or other negotiable instruments and for this purpose to sign, execute and deliver such assurance and deeds as may be necessary for the purpose of the Institute.
21. To pay out of the funds belonging to the Institute or out of any particular part of such funds, the expenses incurred by the Institute from time to time for the management and administration of the affairs of the Institute, including all expenses incidental to the formation of the Institute, all rent, rates, taxes, outgoing and the salaries of the employees.
22. To pay retirement benefit such as gratuity, leave encashment etc. or charitable aid to the teachers, staff and other employees or ex-employees of the Institute or to other wives, widows, children or other dependence of such persons.
23. To make payments towards insurance and to form and contribute to provident and benefit funds of any person employed by the Institute or of the wives, widows, children or other dependent of such persons.
24. To acquire, hold and dispose of property in any manner whatsoever for the purposes of the Institute, provided that the prior approval of the Central Government is obtained in the case of disposal of immovable property.
25. To use any property belonging to the Institute in such a manner as the Institute may deem fit for advancing its objects.
26. To borrow and raise money with the prior approval of the Central Government, with or without security, or on the security of any mortgage, charge or hypothecation or pledge overall or any of the other manner whatever for the purpose of the Institute.
27. To invest and deal with any money of the Institute not immediately required for any of its objects in such manner as may be provided by the Constitution of the Institute as may from time to time be determined.
28. To build, construct and maintain houses, hostels, schools or other buildings and alter, extend, improve, repair, enlarge or modify the same including any existing buildings and to provide and equip the same with light, water, drainage, furniture, fittings, instruments, apparatus and appliances for the use of such buildings in connection with the objects of the Institute.
29. To construct or otherwise acquire, layout, repair, extend alter, enlarge and improve land, recreation or playgrounds, parks and any other immovable property belonging to or held by the Institute.
30. To constitute committees or sub-committees as it may deem fit to carry out the objects of the Institute.
31. To make rules and regulations for the conduct of the affairs of the Institute and add, amend, vary or rescind them from time to time.
32. To do all such lawful acts and things whether incidental to the powers aforesaid or not, as may be necessary or conducive to the attainment of all or any of the objectives of the Institute as a center of research and training.
